Adopt-A-Kennel

Dear Supporter,

The Thompson Humane Society (THS) has been in existence since November of 2003. Over the last 10 years, due to the collective efforts of our Board, staff, volunteers and the many community supporters we have, the THS has been able to save and find homes for close to 4000 dogs and cats. We are all very proud of the role we have played to encourage the humane treatment of animals in the Thompson region.

For a while we have noted the need for an additional staff person for our operations. Currently we have one full time staff that basically takes care of most of the duties of the THS’s animal shelter that includes cleaning kennels, providing health care, taking animals to the veterinarian, adopting out animals, working with volunteers, and exercising animals. Many individuals have complained about the need for extended shelter hours and we, as a Board, wish to have our store become more operational.In order to hire a second full time employee, the THS has formally launched the “Adopt-a-kennel” initiative. This is an opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to formally adopt a kennel for a period of 12 months. For the adoption fee, individuals/organizations will get:

1. Throughout the year pictures and profiles of animals that have been saved and housed in their kennel during their adoption period.
2. To work with us to pick out the wording of their sign that will be on the door of their adopted kennel.
3. A tax receipt for their adoption fee.

We feel this is a great way get more connected to the operations of the Animal Shelter and to see the results of support provided.
